TOROBONG EKPO
Ahead of 2019 election in the state, Door to Door Super 100 for ONE, a
sociopolitical group in the country has pleaded with the Managing Director of Niger
Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Mr. Nsima Ekere to adhere to the yearning
of the organization by dimming it fit to contest for gubernatorial election in
the state come 2019.
Arising from an enlarged meeting of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District Chapter
of the group, the National Chairman of the body, Rt Hon Paul Owo portrayed the
MD of NDDC as a man who will walk the talk towards properly utilizing the state
revenue for the benefit of all and sundry.
He noted that various strides made by Mr. Ekere in the private and public
sectors are evidence of a dynamic leader capable of redeeming the state from
insensitivity.
The group via the National Chairman commended the effort of the MD in
transforming the state through massive infrastructural renaissance, provision
of scholarships to indigenes and most especially returning the commission to
its core mandate thereby urging him never to be deterred despite threats,
insults and ranting from certain quarters of the society.
"...these and many more issues have prompted the call for His
Excellency Obong Nsima Ekere whose track record as a well established
businessman, properly grounded politician and an accomplished administrator
whose days in NDDC have witnessed massive development across all NDDC states to
run for the state governorship seat in order to redeem and save our education,
health, agriculture and power sector while running an inclusive economy,
developing women and youth as well as providing necessary infrastructure.
"Akwa Ibom State with abundance resources needs a man that can and will
walk the talk in the application of state's revenue for the joy of all.
"That is why well meaning Akwa Ibomites in their deep reflection are
gunning for Obong Nsima Ekere as a better seed to complete the Eket senatorial
district tenure for Akwa Ibom people.
"Your Excellency, the progressive Akwa Ibom people love you and pray
you consider as important coming to serve your people in 2019 after serving the
Niger Delta family where the impact of NDDC is evidently felt as never before
within the brief period of your headship of that Federal Agency." He
posited.
The group also appointed Mr. Ofonime George, an indigene of Abak local
government area as the chairman of steering committee of the Ikot Ekpene
Senatorial District of the Organization with Prince Ini Udom, a native of Ikono
LGA as secretary of the group.
Other members include; Mrs. Ekaette Isong, Women Leader, Mr. Charles Isighe,
Mr. Ikpongifono Akpanuko and Hon Ime Mboho.
It will be recalled that Door to Door Super 100 for ONE had in its inaugural
meeting pleaded with Mr. Nsima Ekere to vie for the governorship seat in
forthcoming 2019 election as well as commended the MD for gigantic strides
since assumption of office as MD NDDC.
Nsima Ekere had in previous time served the state as Deputy Governor,
Chairman, Akwa Ibom Investment and Industrial Promotion Council (AKIIPOC),
where he conceived and implemented the first private sector gas-to-power
project in Nigeria as well as Chairman Ibom Power Plant, where he also used the
office to develop and implement a framework for state governments to undertake
power distribution within their states.
He is currently the Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission,
a federal government agency.
