Its funny and ridiculous how some people will want to twist facts to
hide the truth out of mischief. What transpired was that the
International Republican Institute, USA, organized the training for all
APC State Publicity Secretaries in Nigeria.
The contact address
from the old APC data base was submitted to the US agency who sent
invitation directly to the attendees.
It is pertinent to state that the
old data base was not updated to reflect
the then replacement Engr Ita Awak as the Akwa Ibom State Publicity
Secretary and the present occupant, Barr Edet Eyo Bassey.
When the anomaly was discovered on the day of the opening of the conference, the current and legitimate occupant of the office, Barr Edet Eyo Bassey was notified at the eleventh hour of the development but at the time there was no flight from Uyo to Abuja so he missed the opening ceremony.
However, he made it the following day to the Abuja conference, officially introduced himself to the National Publicity Secretary who apologized for the error, got him accredited for the conference and promised to take steps to correct the abnormally to avoid a repeat.
At no time was Barr Edet Eyo Bassey thrown out of the conference as reported by mischief makers. Also, the imposter who was mistakenly invited was allowed do attend the conference to avoid making him feel bad as being a family affair as a party, it would have been uncivil to evict him from the conference so both attended with Barr Edet Eyo Bassey recognized as the legal and legitimate Akwa Ibom APC Publicity Secretary.
Anything else as pandered in the media is false, misleading and mischievous.
