Since last night when the news of the donation of 500 KVH generator by NDDC’s Managing Director, Nsima Ekere had found its way on the social media, some commenters have lauded and lionized the NDDC for such an intervention. I, however, wish to look at the donation through a different angle.
The NDDC as an intervention agency of the Federal Government towards the infrastructural development of the Niger Delta region has not done enough in Akwa Ibom State and this is an unvarnished fact.
While other states have had billions spent in various areas of development, the agency has short-changed Akwa Ibom State with sub-standard projects and in some cases out rightly giving the people fake contract papers.
I want all discerning people of Akwa Ibom State to look into the level of resources that NDDC has spent in other states and compare same to what it has spent in Akwa Ibom state and you will see a gaping hole.
It is disheartening that the NDDC would donate a mere 500 KVH Generator to the highest oil producing state of the nation and the people will treat such as a big achievement while the same agency spends billions in infrastructural development in other states.
Akwa Ibom People please think, reflect and stop applauding mere pittances, ask for what rightly belongs to you. We deserve more from the NDDC.
Enough of this slave mentality.

MY TAKE:
"My take on the 500KVA generating set donated to Specialist Hospital Uyo by NDDC but politicized beyond boarders by some attack dogs parading as saints today"
An Akwa Ibom State son is on the seat of the MD of NDDC currently. That position is not given the son of Akwa Ibom State on a platter of gold.
The state is constitutionally qualified to occupy that seat in our son Mr Nsima Ekere. Akwa Ibom deserves more than a 500KVA generating set. Nsima Ekere should act fast and do more.
A 500KVA generating set for the Specialist Hospital in Uyo should not be politicised by some persons, including raw and rash toothless attack dogs who are seemingly playing as saints today.
Jumping to donate a 500KVA to the hospital that needed electricity power to push its activities for the benefit of healthcare seekers is germane but politicising it to make it look like 500 pieces of 500KVA was donated to all the General Hospitals and health centres in the 329 Wards in Akwa Ibom State is funny and outrageous and sounds like a politicking taken too far.
Besides, can one 500KVA be compared to the quantum of billions of naira of projects of the NDDC enjoyed by other member states when a state like Akwa Ibom with the highest quantum of oil is yet to be commensurately blessed with projects of the NDDC? Why should we keep applauding tiny signs when bigger wonders are still being kept away from our reach?
HON EKERE AFIA WROTE:
Franklyn, I hope you're aware that NDDC has a huge responsibility to the government and people of Akwa Ibom State, not even when our own son is in charge. Please let us not politicize anything done in Akwa Ibom State by the agency. It's the needful that is done. It's NDDC's responsibility to intervene where the State government is shortcoming. It's still from our own money.
