Romans 12:2 NKJV
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
Being saved by Jesus is great, and giving
your life to Him is wonderful, but it is not enough for the fulfilment
of your assignment here on earth. Salvation is not the end, but a means
to an end. God's plan was not just to save us but to transform us from
the inside out.
As such, you must know that the day you got saved, it
was your spirit that got saved and no more, yet you are made up of
spirit, soul and body. So, what happened to the remaining two? They
didn't get saved.
That is why the thoughts of your mind did not
necessarily change, your complexion remained the same; talking about
your soul and your body.
Whereas God has saved your spirit, you
have the responsibility to receive the engrafted word which is able to
save your soul; (James 1:21).
The word of God is that renewing tool that
has the power to renew your mind, which you and I know, is a component
of the soul. The word "renew" in our text reveals that it actually means
to renovate the mind.
This means that the mind actually went through a
deformation or an attack that made it operate differently from the way
it was originally meant to operate.
To renovate is to make changes and
repairs to an old house, building, room, etc. so that it is back in good
condition.
To renovate is also to restore to a former better state (as
by cleaning, repairing, or rebuilding), and only the word of God can
cause this kind of effect in a man’s soul.
Here are few ways to renovate your mentality:
i. Read the Bible daily: Make it a duty to have a daily encounter with
the word of God, because the word of God is a cleansing agent. Each time
you read it, you are actually washing your mind; like taking a bath.
John 17:17, Ephesians 5:26.
ii. Meditate on the word of God: This
means to think on the word, muse or brood over the word of God. Make
sure you always have verses of the scriptures you want to keep in your
heart all the time, for the whole day.
iii. Listen to the word of
God: “Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.” Your ear
is a major gate of your life, you must make sure that massive doses of
word goes through it into your spirit each day.
iv. Talk the word of
God: Come to the point where the word of God is your opinion each day.
There should always be an "it is written", or "the Bible says" in your
mouth over any issue in life. Also, share the word of God each time you
have the chance with friends.
Do these and your mentality with be
renovated and reconstructed to think like God, which is the way He made
you originally. Grace to renovate your mind in Jesus Name.
Assignment/Prayer
-Pray over each step and ask God for the grace to practice them consistently.
-Give yourself a one-month-consistency-target plan.
Nugget
Only the word of God has the power to renovate, repair, clean, rebuild, reconstruct, renew and transform a man’s soul (mind).
