I dont know who added me to this group.I have seen the names of friends
and others I know but let me emphasize that we cannot grow as a people
nor succeed in any endeavour if we refuse to take lessons from other
successful countries.
This may be too patronizing but in the United
States of America,a politician like Senator John James Akpan Udoedeghe
would be listed as a Hero! Here is a man who started life struggling with
others (his childhood and boyhood friends)but succeeded in leaving them
behind. He may not have attended University as a teenager but he saw the
need and importance of studying for a degree.
He became a Chairman of
Uyo Local Govt.Council,He was an elected Senator of the Federal Republic
of Nigeria and served in important Committees in the Senate.
He was a
Member of the Governing Council of a Federal Tertiary Institution and
was appointed a Minister of State of the FCT!He studied for a Masters
and Doctorate degree and earned those academic epaulettes. He became a
symbol to liberate Akwa Ibom from the clutches of a Leadership that
waged war against Ibibio people from 2009-2011.I was a driving force, the
Chief Strategist/Planner in that struggle as the Secretary-General of
Positive Change and the Secretary-General of Senator Udoedeghe's
Governorship Campaign Organisation.
The hallmark of every great man is contradictions and certain faults in character traits.Senator Udoedeghe isn't alone in this respect. We all have our fault lines.
The long and short of this intervention is that nobody should use a group like this to show that s/he is still stuck with the Udoedeghe of Enwe Street.
I shouldn't belong in a group with anyone who has a crab
mentality-an attitude that everyone should lie face down on the ground
and at the same level forever.
