The member representing Itu State Constituency, Prince Idongesit Ituen
has disclosed the reason he did not follow Governor Udom Emmanuel to
crisis Itu Oma- Ikot Offiong prone area of his state constituency,
describing Governor Udom Emmanuel’s action as a self-centred move by
some Itu politician to spite him.
Speaking to some stakeholders in a meeting in Uyo, with the aim of
frustrating Governor Udom Emmanuel’s re-election bid in 2019, the Guide
gathered that when Prince Ituen was asked by one of the stakeholders why
he did not accompany the Governor to Ikot Offiong in Itu Oma, Itu LG
area, Prince Ituen was quoted to have said that the Governor should have
written him a letter, informing him as a stakeholder of the area that
he would visit his people and the Governor should have also invited him
through a written letter or phone call, which he governor did not.
Idongesit Ituen said he will never become Governor Udom Emmanuel’s
puppet to be dragged to everywhere the Governor goes adding that
Governor Udom Emmanuel acted based on some selfish political reasons of
Senator Anietie Okon.
The House member recalled that the people of
the crisis Itu Oma never supported him during his election and revealed
that the area is a core APC area and he needed to leave them alone for
them to learn a bitter lesson of always supporting a winning party.
On why he took so long to visit Ikot Offiong people even in their
trying moment, Idongesit Ituen said the people of Itu Oma will suffer
more as he has put up modalities to also frustrate their political
relevance as over 85 percent of people in that area are APC members who
never voted him during election.
The lawmaker said, as an elected
representative of the people, he expects Governor Udom Emmanuel to be
closer to him than any other politician and always seek his opinion on
certain political decisions bordering on Itu people, noting that as the
people’s voice, he should be more recognize than other past and present
political office holders such like a mere commissioner.
He said
he is the right person to take the Governor to the area instead of the
Governor taking him to his primary political domain.
Ituen,
started that his eventual visit to the people of that area recently was
born out of his love for God not to please anybody.
It would be
recalled that the incumbent Transition Chairman Mrs. Esara and the
current PDP chapter chairman Mr. Victor Okon are from the area which the
lawmaker said never supported him.
Reacting to Prince Idongesit
Ituen’s outburst, a political stakeholder in the area, Mr. Mfon Morgan
said the people of the area will respond to Idongesit Ituen
appropriately during election, warning the lawmaker to always guard his
utterance knowing full well of his second term ambition.
