The numerous commissioning of completed projects, inspection of the
ongoing and flag-off of new newly approved ones across Akwa Ibom State
has been described as a show of stateliness, patriotism and even spread
of development by Governor Udom Emmanuel.
Special Adviser to the
Governor on Political, Legislative Affairs and Water Resources, Rt. Hon.
(Barr.) Ekong Sampson made the observation when approached by some the
press after the commissioning of the Model Girls Secondary School at
Ikot Ekan, Abak LGA, by His Excellency, the Governor.
The Special
Adviser commended the Governor’s sensitivity in identifying peculiar
needs and opportunities in various communities in the State and
attending to them.
He said Governor Udom Emmanuel was implementing a
broad spectrum development roadmap that would ensure industrialization
and productivity of the three Senatorial Districts of the State.
Barrister Ekong Sampson described State Government recent annexation of
five private secondary schools in the State and the intervention to
salvage the facility of the Model Girls Secondary School in Abak as
timely and visionary.
Governor Udom Emmanuel said the school was
going to be one of the best schools as he would ensure that there are
full boarding facilities just as he instructed that it should commence
full academic activities.
Recounting the spate of projects across the
State, ranging from roads factories, schools, etc., he said the state
has been very busy, opening up and so many youths engaged.
He noted
that the project s of executed by the State Government has a signature
of quality and has so far proved some critics wrong.
Aside the 14.0km Abak-Nsehe –Ikot Akpan Nkuk-Ikot Etim-Ikot Ikara Road(Phase III Section A) Ikot Ikara to Ikot Ibritam and other roads, Governor Emmanuel also announced a new road for the community to create a smooth entry into the Model Girls Secondary School and directed the Commissioner for Works to ensure that work for the road construction commenced soon.
He
also announced another road for the people of Abak 10 and assured them
that the roads would be constructed soon and to standard, to ensure that
they stand the test of time, as he promised to personally inspect them
during the 30th anniversary of Akwa Ibom State.
Concerning the display of posters, banners and various publicity materials on Continuous Voter Registration and National Identity Card scheme at the commissioning venues and all over the areas, courtesy of his Bureau, Barrister Ekong Sampson said it was necessary to use every available forum to sensitise the people of the State on these important programmes.
He said Akwa Ibom is a PDP State and as much as the people are celebrating the dividends of democratic governance through a PDP government and wish to have it continue, there was need to sensitise them to get their voter's card as a tool for participation in democracy. That will give them a chance to match their love for Governor Udom Emmanuel with action.
On the National Identity issue, he said the
Akwa Ibom State Government is concerned about having everybody in the
State captures in the nations database.
