I report that I intervened on your behalf and His Excellency,Deacon Udom G. Emmanuel, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, graciously and magnanimously authorized the suspension of action on the contentious MOU until all issues of concern to Oro are resolved.

I thank our noble son,Rt Hon Orman Esin, the Hon. Commissioner, who swiftly gave effect to the directive and facilitated immediate steps to assuage the anxieties of Oro.

It is our fervent hope that a wider consultation will ensue and an acceptable document will be ready by next week.

We thank His Excellency for this commendable gesture of responsiveness and sensitivity to the yearning of the people.

We thank the Honourable Commissioner for his patriotic disposition. We thank the stakeholders, particularly,Rt Hon. Felicia Bassey,Deputy Speaker,Dr(Mrs) Akon Eyakenyi,Pastor Tony Bassey Etim,Chairman of Oron LGA,Chief E N Ekeng,Clan Head of Idua,Chief Okon Osung, and Prince K O Isong, for their laudable roles in the discussions which followed.

I reserve a special gesture of gratitude for our alert, gallant and ever faithful cadre of youths, who in their phone calls, comments and anguished lamentations, promptly reminded us again that the price of liberty is eternal vigilance! Please,do hold your fire.

You will hear from me when the remedial process is concluded satisfactorily.

Thank you.

Dr Efiong E B Edunam,
President General,Oron Union.
