Immediate past Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Mrs
Akon Eyakenyi is becoming very popular and seemingly another most
preferable and better choice for the people of Eket Senatorial District
against Senator Nelson Effiong particularly with support from the
youths of the district .
In a recent
development one of the political groups under Eket Senatorial district
known as Democracy Congress Alliance [DCA] headed by Comrade Kufre
Etukbom has identified with the former Minister and given her their
unflinching support to actualize her senatorial ambition.
The
group, through their spokes person Mr. Kuyik Attah passed a vote of
confidence on Mrs. Eyakenyi and described her as an asset to Oron Nation
and Eket senatorial district at large considering her stewardship and
indelible foot print which she created during her tenure in the federal
Government.
Attah said Eket senatorial district was seriously in need of a foundation builder, attributing such to the ex-minister who he said spent just one year in the office but looks as if she spent more than four years in the same office due to her unprecedented performance, adding that she is a sensitive leader who has been able to create a land mark in just less than a year in office as a Minister.
Recalling the score card of the former Minister he said she planned for sustainable transformation of the ministry she served, finalized and approved a national framework of action by the National Council of Lands, Housing and Urban Development and also revised National Building Code to ensure improved professional and ethical standard in the housing and urban development sector.
Also under her watch, a zero draft
National Land policy was developed and was finalized by the
management/administration of the land and land resources which will be
better coordinated in order to ensure full optimization of the land for
rapid socio economic development.
The group said after assessing her performance in just less than a year in the office decided to go for her to come and transfer such a team spirit of development of hers in Eket Senatorial District and pleaded her to vie for the number one seat of the senatorial district to represent the people of the area at the red chambers of the senate rather than the current representative, Senator Nelson Effiong and therefore pass a vote of no confidence on him for his abysmal performance.
