The
Speaker, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Barr. Onofiok Luke has
advised the new executive of Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria
(PASSAN), Akwa Ibom State chapter to live up to the expectations of its
members.
The Speaker, who gave the advice on Wednesday when he
played host to members of the newly elected Exco of PASSAN at the
Assembly complex, urged the new Exco to work in unison for the
advancement of the interest and welfare of parliamentary staff in the House of Assembly.
Congratulating the Chairman and members of the executive on their successful and peaceful election, Speaker Luke assured of the cooperation and support of the leadership of the House of Assembly to the Etinwa Etim led exco of PASSAN.
"Let me commend you again on the orderly conduct and sense of organization in the last May Day. I want to thank you for breathing life into the union and that goes to show leadership. Let me restate our resolve to work hand in hand with PASSAN.
This resolve is coming on the background that we understand that you are the tool upon which our job, our responsibility rests. Without you, we would have had tough time here."
The Speaker reassured them of the commitment of the House leadership to create a conducive working environment for parliamentary staff in the Assembly especially in the area of capacity development, good office accommodation and other packages.
Earlier, the Chairman of PASSAN, Comrade Etinwa Etim said members of the new Exco deemed it necessary to intimate the Speaker of the changes in the leadership of PASSAN in the House of Assembly, and applauded Barr. Luke for his leadership style.
He promised to use his office for the common good of parliamentary staff in the House of Assembly, and used the opportunity to table some welfare needs of the Assembly staff before the speaker.
