James 1:13-15 KJV
“Let no man say when he is
tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil,
neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn
away of his own lust, and enticed.
Then when lust hath conceived, it
bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.”
This scripture just reveals the process that leads to our failure and
falls in our daily walk with God. Many people find it hard to understand
how they couldn't resist a particular temptation, or how they fell for
an enticement just like that. The reason is very simple.
Firstly, people
are tempted when they are drawn away of their own lust.
Every man has
an area of lust or something like that. It is an area that satan uses to
easily get your attention. You may not yield to any other temptation,
but this one.
Some people call it a weakness.
Secondly, lust is
like a conception. It is like a pregnancy in your spirit or soul, you
should know when you have conceived something wrong.
For instance, when a
sin or wrong doing keeps coming to your mind on a regular basis, maybe
for a whole day or a week, then know that the enemy has planted a
pregnancy in your spirit.
This is the kind of pregnancy you must abort.
If you do not take practical steps to abort it, it will grow and you
will eventually fall into sin.
This is how it works; lust or desire is
planted in your heart as a conception, then it will birth sin, and when
sin is finished, it will lead you to death. Death is mostly total cut
off from God's presence.
There are a few ways to abort such conceptions, or better still to prevent them.
i. Never break fellowship with God: Prayer and the study of the word
must be a daily affair. Have a determined time of fellowship with God
each day. Possibly 5am in the morning. (Proverbs 8:17; Psalm 119:11).
ii. Speak against every suggestion to sin in your mind: Don't be quiet
or try to use your mind to put away a lustful thought; it won't work
that way. You must speak and reject every lustful thought with the word
of God; any relevant scripture you remember at the time.
It takes spoken
word to alter a thought process. That is how you abort the lustful
desire. Always declare that you are the righteousness of God in Christ
Jesus and that sin shall not have dominion over you. Romans 6:14.
iii. Never miss church services: One of the assignments of your pastor
or shepherd is to restore your soul. During the day, all manner of
lustful thoughts may have been fired into your soul, and it will take a
massive doze of the word to counter or push them back, out of your mind.
Always sit at the feet of your pastor as he shares the word as many
times in the week as possible.
Also, make sure you have the word of God
in CDs, soft copies and in book format. Your mind must be intentionally
bombarded with positive information till there is no more room for any
other thought.
Receive grace to abort every evil thought and desires in Jesus Name.

Nugget
When a thought to do wrong keeps coming to your mind and you do not take practical steps to abort it, you will eventually fall into sin.
