Prince Enobong Uwah has described a recent report by an Akwa Ibom state based tabloid, that His Excellency, Governor Udom Gabriel Emmanuel begged him as false, unfounded, ridiculous and a cheap blackmail stretched too far.
Reacting to a front page story on Global Concord publication of Friday 7th-9th April 2017 which is lavishly spread on page 2 of the said newspaper, Prince Uwah who served as immediate past Commissioner for Housing and Urban Renewal in Governor Emmanuel's cabinet, said the story is a fabricated concoction of its peddlers and bears no iota of truth.
He described what he called the ‘concocted story’ as the height of callous insensitivity, arguing that ‘the sponsors of the story are fighting desperately to blackmail him and also discredit Governor Udom Emmanuel.
He however submitted that, the will of Akwa Ibom people who in their overwhelming majority appreciate, love, and support Governor Emmanuel and the noble efforts of the present administration to ensure sustainable development will prevail come 2019 when they will re-elect the governor for a second term and massively vote for the PDP at all levels.
While maintaining that he is aware of the intent of the story being a campaign of calumny, he noted with regret that, some sections of the media have been increasingly awash with incendiary statements, that seem designed to pitch him against his boss, Governor Emmanuel in recent times, and have been reinforced since he ended his tenure as Commissioner.
Prince Uwah however expressed confidence that, the good people of Akwa Ibom are aware that their claims are untrue and blamed some desperate politicians who want to make cheap capital of three people who defected from PDP to APC in Uyo to create confusion.
On his relationship with Governor Emmanuel, the former Commissioner explained that, Governor Emmanuel is his boss and an excellent leader to whom he remains unwaveringly loyal to.
He said he continues to enjoy a cordial relationship with the governor based on trust and confidence which cannot be breached by the futile antics of a few detractors and political jobbers.
While calling on the Press to elevate their noble profession by maintaining the highest ethical standards in their reportage and engage in constructive criticism, he frowned against lending themselves as a tool in the hands of political touts and mischief makers whose only duty is to pull others down by engaging their shameful talents of tar brushing and inciting strife.
Prince Uwah said the APC is still struggling to find its feet in Akwa Ibom state and has haplessly resorted to propaganda to bouy its chances, adding that, the PDP family in Uyo remains intact, strong, vibrant, focused and united and will stand solidly by Governor Emmanuel beyond 2019 until he completes his full tenure in 2023.
