These are the days of Easter.I bring you warm compliments from the
Oro Nation.For us as a people,Easter bears a special meaning.It teaches
that the oppressor, the persecutor and the crucifiers may not
necessarily have the last say.
It also suggests that unmerited
persecution, malicious discrimination, as we experience in our environment, have their redemptive value as well.
We are a minority group, victims of of enforced marginalization
and reckless, wanton expropriation. We are the largest oil-producing
community in Africa, the largest single contributor to the Nigerian
treasury.Yet nobody must know about us nor must we be justly rewarded.
Nevertheless, the average Oro citizen must note that no condition is permanent. The triumph of oppressors blinded by the fog of might, temporary advantage and myopia cannot last forever.
The man who has
his back against the wall has very few options. More importantly, he who
seeks liberation must be ready to strike the blow himself!
Furthermore, my attention has been drawn to posts, comments, discussions
and perspectives shared on this platform and elsewhere about Akwa Ibom
State governorship project in 2019.Oro leaders are not asleep or
unconcerned as some of us incorrectly reason.
1) A post mortem on 2015 has been extensively performed.
2)Lessons therefrom inform deep, patient calculation, greater strategic consciousness, more tactical efficiency.
3)The need to put our house in order is being pursued single-mindedly.
4)Deeper exploration of crosscutting alliances and consultations are ongoing.
Oro citizens are, therefore, counselled to keep their gun powder dry and to keep their fingers crossed.
God bless you all as you spend the long holiday to reflect on these things.
