If there is one lesson everyone should learn from the just concluded reality TV show known as #BigBrotherNaija, it is that arrogance begets hatred.
The volume of joy that filled the air the moment miss Tokunbo Idowu (TBOSS) was evicted from the BBNaija was as though the daura-born political disaster who lives in the rock has finally gone the way of all mortals.
It is beyond argument that TBOSS was the least liked character in the show.
She attracted all the bad blood to herself by being unnecessarily arrogant and speaking absent thought.
Why would you come to a show where you need the help of the ordinary people to win the sum of 25million and start carrying yourself like you are the Ogadagidi 1 of the whole wide world?
Why would you give people the impression that you live a very comfortable life and still expect them to dash you 25million with their vote???
Wetin you wan carry 25million do when you are already very comfortable?
The same you opened your mouth to claim that if you won the 25million, you will finish it within one week.
Why would I borrow airtime from my network provider only to deploy it into placing 25million in the hands of a young woman who would burn the whole money within one week?
I dey craze?
When you tell your fans that you have private jets owners hitting on you, you should know that some of those fans of yours would feel you are rubbing your comfortable 'Ajebo' life on their faces and the sensible ones among them would ask you to go collect your 25million from your private jet owner 'toasters'.
Humility is a virtue.
Foolishness-induced arrogance should not be mistaken for self confidence.
TBOSS was not self confident. She was foolishly arrogant. Stupid pride. Empty pride.
Efe did not win because he performed better than the other house mates. He won because he remained real all through. He didn't fake being from a wealthy background. He "is" (was) poor and from the 'street'.
Over 80% of Nigerians are Efe in more ways than one. So Nigerians easily found a connect between them and Efe.
But again, reasonable percent of us are equally TBOSS; showy, bossy, arrogant. You know those ones that would come to your wall but rather than make meaningful contribution, they would first tell you how many degrees they have but at the end, they would end up commenting as though their own WAEC follow Buhari own disappear.
Being from a poor home is no crime. Most Nigerians are poor. Reasonable percent of these poor Nigerians live in penury (the lowest level of poverty) no thanks to the destiny rapists masquerading as our leaders.
It is these poor Nigerians and a few decent wealthy ones who made a statement with their vote.
You know what statement they made by voting overwhelmingly for poor Efe?
I will tell you:
It is far better, reasonable and fair to make the poor rich than to make the rich richer.
And, just so we are clear, this post is not based on logistics.
Erm.....I just erred. This post is actually based on logistics.
