Governor Udom Gabriel Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria is set to
make history in his resolve to
remain glued to his deal with his Oro
brothers, as he has vowed to handover power to them in 2019.
The
Governor stated this when he addressed a cross section of PDP/APC
chieftains and Royal fathers of Oro extraction in an indoor meeting in
Government House Friday night.
Udom Emmanuel said in line with
the agreement which was signed between him and the people of Oro Nation
during the preparations for the 2015 General Elections, as was initiated
and countersigned by his predecessor and former Governor, Senator
Godwill Akpabio, now Senate Minority Leader, he was moved to make the
declaration and clear the air to douse the rising tension in some
quarters.
He called on all stakeholders in the state to have the
consciousness of supporting the Oro Governorship course in 2019, adding
that for equity and fair play, it was important for the deal/agreement
to be respected.
He thanked the Oro people and the entire Akwa
Ibom people for the support so far given to his administration and
called for continued support so that he can take the state to an
envisaged destination.
The Oro people equally thank the Governor
for his high sense of understanding and promised their determined stance
to give him the needed support.
