In plenary today Thursday 27th April 2017 the Akwa Ibom State Youth
Fund got the blessings of the entire house during the second reading,
the bill which is sponsored by The Chief Whip of the House, a former
Youth Leader in Akwa Ibom State and member representing Ini State
Constituency Hon. Emmanuel Ekpenyong Bassey.
The bill which seeks to provide funds for youths in the state for businesses, acquisition of skills and tackle unemployment.
Several law makers gave their support to the bill and spoke extensively on its benefits.
Among those who spoke was Rt. Hon. Barr Obong Ime Okon member representing Ibiono Ibom State Constituency, in his constructive and well articulated speech he lauded the effort of the led sponsor and drew the attention of the house to look into how the funding of AKSYF will go about and appeal that when the bill gets to the committee level that factor be considered.
Other members who supported the bill and gave accolades were Hon. Otuekong Nse Essien (Onna), Hon. Otobong Akpan(Ukanafun), Hon. Prince Idongesit Ituen (Itu), Rt Hon. Mark Esset (Nsit Atai), Rt Hon. Usoro Akpanusoh ( Esit Esit/ Ibeno), Hon. Monday Eyo (Uyo), Rt Hon. Uduak Odudoh (Ikot Abasi/ Eastern Obolo ), Hon. Samuel Ufuo (Mbo), Rt. Hon. Princess Mfon Ekong (Nsit Ibom), Hon. Gabriel Toby (Ika/Etim Ekpo), Hon. Effiong Okon Bassey (Oron) and Hon. David Lawrence (Eket).
In conclusion the Speaker Rt. Hon. Barr. Onofiok Luke thanked all the members for their unanimous decision to support the bill which was made possible by the number of youths in the 6th Assembly.
