Governor Udom Emmanuel
of Akwa Ibom State has assured the people of Ini Local Government Area
on the completion of the road from Mbiabong Ikot Udofia to Mbente
Village, Nkari in Ini Local Government Area.
The Governor gave the
assurance when he attended the funeral service of Late Deaconess Arit
Etimkpo Inuaeyen(Nee Udoisong) aged 84, mother of a political stalwart
in the State, Obong Bassey Inuaeyen at Mbente Village, Nkari, in Ini
local government area.
He further acknowledged his relationship with
the chief mourner, Obong Bassey Inuaeyen and said they have known
themselves over the years which invariably goes beyond politics.
He
recalled that few years ago, when he lost his mother and mother-in-law
within one year, Obong Bassey Inuaeyen had stood by him and also
supported him immensely, adding that there is no way he could forget
such kind gesture.
Governor Emmanuel noted that in order to make the
day a memorable and remarkable one in Ini, " I want to reassure you
that we will complete the road that leads into the entire community so
that you will all remember a day like this.
With that, we would have
touched the church, community, women, farmers, men, youths, political
party and everyone".
Governor Emmanuel condoled the family of the
deceased over her demise, explaining that there is no best time of
losing a loved one.
“It feels almost the same losing a mother at 120
years and a mother at 60,Mr Emmanuel said, describing late Mma
Udoisong as a woman that was filled with boundless passion, utmost
humility and above all God-fearing.
Earlier, the chief mourner,
Obong Bassey Inuaeyen expressed utmost appreciation on Governor Udom
Emmanuel and his entourage for gracing the occasion.
He particular
thanked the Governor for making the day possible by embarking on the
construction of the road from Mbiabong Ikot Udofia to Mbente Village,
Nkari in Ini for people from all walks of life to attend the funeral and
further appealed to the Governor for the completion of the road.
The funeral service was conducted by, The Apostolic Church, Nigeria,
Mbiabong Ikot Udofia Mbente District, Ini Local Government Area, Ikot
Ekpene field, Akwa Ibom State.
In a sermon, Ikot Ekpene field
superintendent of The Apostolic Church, Apostle A. O. Udoiyak,
admonished Christians to rise and take up their destinies in their hands
not minding the hindrances and challenges faced as christians which is
inevitable.
Apostle A.O. Udoiyak, who took his sermon from the book
of Joshua 1:1-2 and preached on the theme:
"There is a Jordan for us to
cross" urged christians to pursue their destinies and as well fight for
it if they must succeed in life.
He stated that "Decision" and
"Dedication" are the two basic factors christians must adopt in order to
pull through the challenges of life and assured that as we adhere to
these factors, the promises of God upon our lives shall always prevail.
The Funeral was attended by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly,
Barr. Onofiok Luke, Senate Minority leader, Chief Godswill Obot
Akpabio, members of the State House of Assembly, immediate past Chief
Judge of the State, Justice Stephen Okon, State party chairman, Obong
Paul Ekpo and the entire PDP family, State Executive Council members,
Senior citizens of the state, traditional rulers among other prominent
personalities.
