It is very disheartening that these days, there are no more men of honour and repute, Chief Godswill Obot Akpabio is the immediate past governor of Akwa Ibom State and now Senate Minority leader.
His tenure as the Chief executive officer of the state witnessed worst manipulated elections all over the country, it was under his watch that somebody who never bought form or campaigned for an electoral office will be given that office to the detriment of the people that entered for that election.
Akpabio was a master strategist when it comes to election rigging and manipulation of result, it is very glaring in the case of the ousted Senator Bassey Albert Akpan, who was not a senatorial aspirant for Akwa Ibom North East Senatorial District, but the result of Sunday, December 7, 2014 PDP primaries was later changed under Akpabio’s supervision on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 to fixed in Mr Bassey Albert Akpan in place of the original winner, Rt. Hon. Bassey Etim.
Nigerians will not forget in the haste how the number (17) was made to be greater than nineteen (19) by this same Akpabio during the Nigeria Governors Forum election of 2014, neither will they forget the self confession of the emperor, Godswill Akpabio, who told the whole world during the good governance tour to Akwa Ibom State in 2014, how he crossed somebody’s name to fixed in the name of Senator Alloysius Etok as a senator.
It is the public knowledge that Godswill Akpabio battled with an election result forgery case with Engr. Frank Okon till he left office in 2015, if it was the judiciary under the change government, who knows if Akpabio would have been lucky to complete his tenure, though that should be story for another day.
Every Akwa Ibom person and Nigerians have seen the woes this same master strategies in election rigging has brought to the people of Akwa Ibom North East Senatorial District, if he had allowed the name of original winner of the PDP primary election of 2014, Rt. Hon. Bassey Etim to be forward to INEC, all these problems that the people of Uyo Senatorial District are facing wouldn’t have arose.
But many thanks to President Muhammadu Buhari for ensuring total cleansing of the Nigeria Judicial system which has restored the hope of every Nigerian on judiciary, as a last hope of a common man.
Akpabio should realized that his election rigging prowess had gone with the dark days of PDP led government in the country, because any attempt to oppressed the citizen in their free choice of who to lead them will amount at adverse punishment, which according to the law is many years imprisonment
The election rigging emperor called Godswill Akpabio should washed his hands off the struggle for Akwa Ibom North East Senatorial District, after all, he had already done all the damages which has caused the people not to have a good representation at the moment at the red chamber.
The Court has decided that Rt. Hon. Bassey Etim is the original winner of the 2015 senatorial election, having won the PDP primary for the senatorial district in 2014, Akpabio should stop knelling down for the Senate President to beg that the he should not swear in the Senator for Akwa Ibom North East, when his Ikot Ekpene senatorial district is well represented at the senate. Enough of this impunity, Uyo senatorial district must move forward.
Yesterday while the judiciary confirmed senator, Rt. Hon. Bassey Etim was meeting with the Senate President at his office, this same frustrated Akpabio gate crashed into the meeting, and in a manner seen to be unbecoming of a former governor of a state like Akwa Ibom State, knelt before Saraki to plead that his ousted god son be given a soft landing, thereby delaying the order of the Federal High Court, Uyo, to swear in Rt. Hon. Etim, which has already been complied with by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
The people of Uyo senatorial district should know that Akpabio’s continuous interference with the politics of the district is uncalled for, and should be totally discouraged, he cannot come and perpetuate problem in Uyo while his home district is peaceful, thereby depriving people of effective representation.
Akpabio should realized that the dark days of his dubious reign have since gone, the days where Court orders were not obeyed, the days where 17 was more than 19, the days where somebody’s name could easily be crossed off to bring his choice person, thse days of impunity has since gone for good.
