BY TOROBONG EKPO
I've just read on the internet a certain post by Comrade Joseph Atainyang indicting the state commissioner for Housing and Special Duties, Hon Akan Okon of luring some lawmakers with a view of impeaching Speaker Onofiok Luke.
Last week, one Victor accused Itu MP,
Prince Idongesit Ituen of being a pathological blackmailer, insisting
that he erased his name from being Itu Chapter chairman of Youth
council.
I may not ascertain the age of the said Victor to know
if truly he is a youth, however, under the present leadership of Udom
Gabriel Emmanuel, it is glaring youth stops at 65.
Even some so-called youths are older than State Commissioner for Youth and Sport.
Some of the youths are in the men fellowship of their churches, but I
keep wondering why they choose to be inducted into youth empire in the
circular world.
A University lecturer also affirmed the alleged
pathological blackmail disposition of Prince Idongesit Ituen in a
rejoinder spread across internet groups and blogs.
I may not know what transpired that led to a lecturer allegedly being a victim of what he claimed.
Still that last week, a group known as Itu Mandate Assembly issued a
communique attributing Victor's claims as the brainchild of Hon. Akan
Okon.
Today, Joseph Atainyang's post has been published.
If it were football match, the scores would have been clearly pasted
2-2 on the score board....I mean two each on the fans of both 'teams'.
But is there any need bringing Barr. Onofiok Luke to the murky water of
politics as presently practised by mostly PDP political appointees and
fans?
Itu in recent times has been in the bad press as a result
of handiwork of fans, supporters and in most cases MEMBERS of leading
opposition party- PDP.
From Boundary disputes of Ikot Offiong
and OkuIboku where millions of people are dying on daily basis (under
the watchful eyes of Governor Udom Emmanuel and Ben Ayade, both from
alleged Markafi faction of PDP) to petition presented by three members
of Transition Committee, who indicted the chairman of fiddling, (in
partnership with self acclaimed stakeholders) with the IGR of the local
government.
In as much as I don't know Prince Idongesit Ituen as
a blackmailer, nor Akan Okon as a coup plotter, I wish to counsel the
supporters of the duo to stop testing their muscles.
If Victor
was deprived of becoming the Chapter Chairman of Youth Council in Itu,
it behooves on him to reexamine if he is a youth, or what actually led
to his alleged removal.
Also, for Itu Mandate Assembly, I
expected them to dwell on issues raised by Victor, not drawing Akan Okon
to their table soccer game without enough evidences and facts.
The rate blackmail is thriving in the locality, It won't help the
domain. Some years back, Ibiono Ibom had the same scenario, how did it
end? Let's find out.
With the invention of blogs, Facebook,
Twitter, Whatsapp, Telegram and other social media, it appears
journalism has gradually strolled into what I termed BLACK AGE.
From my perception, black age, is an era where an occupation has turned
hopeless as a result of influx of mediocres, charlatans, riffraff, touts
and jobbers into the profession.
Unfortunately, journalism is suffering from black age. It won't change except unemployment is reduced or totally eradicated.
It won't change until political appointees and elected officers are
programmed to serve the people rather than amass wealth for their
generations.
It won't change except you and I embark on positive anger to change the mindset of our generation.
World War, Creation of more Political Wards, States and Federal
Constituencies won't change the dynamics... Only positive anger could do
the magic.
If imposition of Udom Emmanuel on innocent Akwa
Ibomites couldn't change the narrative, then we need to opt for positive
anger.
For now, we only need to take stock so as to educate
22nd century Historians and Political Scientists on how members of a PDP
led government in our dear state via their body languages used their
fans to castigate images of political office appointees.
Today,
objective reportage has turned to subjective... I wouldn't remember the
last time I read newspapers devoid of sensational journalism.
What of television? The shamble is everywhere.
We are living in a world where images of renowned clerics could be
tarnished as was recently seen via certain report channeled on Apostle
Suleiman's.
We are in a world where good gestures towards a
state, community, village could be undermined by agents of opposition
Party as could be seen in some childish posts on NDDC.
No one who knows Akan Okon will ever imagine nor go on his page to proclaim that he plotted removal of Rt Hon Onofiok Luke.
No one who has interfaced with Prince Idongesit Ituen will ever talk
about him being a blackmailer, talk less of being a pathological one.
All this nonsense is caused by miscreant harboured by way of being fans or passive members of political party.
Imagine fans of two members of PDP exchanging blows on the internet??? So so childish!
This may have been reason why some right thinking members of the party
have decided to jump ship to avoid being rubbed into the mud.
Unfortunately, the internal fight among PDP members alone is worst than satanic attack.
It a pity, sad... It is gradually turning the party to a Banana Republic.
A cleric needs to pray and deliver the party from sycophantic bondage.
