By TOROBONG EKPO
I had to wait till the end of our honey moon, before airing my view on
this all important political permutation as it affects 2019 election.
Some days ago, Mr. Nsima Ekere was accused by a local newspaper of
'Renew' attack on Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, simply because Obong
Iniobong John, went on social media to air his view regarding the
present administration, which he described as deceitful and lies
oriented.
The word 'Renew' lured my interest to the publication
as I wanted to know when the said Nsima Ekere started his attack on
Udom that he had to renew prior to 2019.
I was thinking if he
had attacked Udom Gabriel Emmanuel when G22, were 'Robbed' broad
daylight in an atmosphere, where someone openly said that, '10 Percent
casualty' was not a bad idea. Or have we forgotten such careless
utterance?
Considering Nsima being the leader of the defunct
G22, I think that was an opportunity for him to have launched a media
attack on Udom but he, together with 21other members of the group took
it to God in prayer and stayed for 40days at the wilderness of Federal
Capital City.
Today, those who extolled the allegedly rigged
primary, are the ones doling out information to writers with a view of
castigating the administration of UGE.
Yet, Mr. Nsima Ekere is
still looking up to God and also finding possible ways of changing the
dynamism of Akwa Ibom State via NDDC road construction as currently
proliferated in the state.
One wonders the brain behind the
media attack on government functionaries closer to Udom, could it be
Nsima that is leaking information in the government house to press
community?
Could it be him that is causing undue ripples
regarding surreal Local Government election, which some people have
started blackmailing intending aspirants?
I painstakingly read
through the newspaper page, only to discover that, the interviewer only
described Ekere as a humble and level headed man, without positing when
he started the attack that he had to renew.
To renew is a phrase
we should understand the meaning, thus, when such is used in a different
context, grammarians tend to wonder if it doesn't mean TO RESUME (AN
ACTIVITY) AFTER AN INTERRUPTION OR TO REOPEN, REVIVE, REGENERATE,
REVITALIZE, RESTORE in its synonyms?
I may not know when the MD
of NDDC started his media attack on the governor, but it won't be right
to attribute statement made by Obong Iniobong John as that of Obong
Nsima Ekere.
The act of attributing Ini personal view to that of
Nsima Ekere will amount to saying that, all Hon. Ephraim Inyang does
and says could be attributed to body language of Governor Udom Emmanuel.
Obong Iniobong John has the right to personal opinion as guaranteed by the law of the land.
It was this freedom that gave him the impetus to support Eket
Senatorial District for governor in 2015 even when the political boxers
and weightlifters were seeing Uyo Senatorial District.
Or could
we say that he was sent by Obong Nsima Ekere to publish those
advertorials he did on National dailies and local tabloids?
In
the said report, it was said that, Obong Iniobong described the governor
as deceitful, with regards to his achievements in office.
GOOD
AND FINE, I may not know if the governor is deceitful, coz I am fully
aware of so many ground breaking he has done in the state.
I
know of toothpick industry, I am also aware of his effort in partnering
with World Bank to construct IBB way, even though, some months ago, Hon
Smart Usanga, a stoic member of PDP raised alarm on his timeline, the
high rate of poor drainage in the state, insisting that it took him one
hour and thirty minutes before he could traverse 800 metres route after a
10 minutes rainfall.
One thing I cherish about Udom, is that
about three months into his office, he went to Eket and told the
residents to hold him responsible if the area wasn't developed within
6months.
This may have been the reason why the assembly man, Hon
Lawrence usually describe the constituency as NEWEST METROPOLITAN
CITY... Off course, if one penetrates Eket, we will discover that the
governor is not deceitful in this regards. The area is indeed, the
newest metropolitan city in the making.
I may not know the
rationale behind attributing Iniobong's speech to Nsima, however, if
this trend continues, it would be believed that any utterance made
clandestinely or officially by an aide or government appointee may be
said to be masterminded by the governor.
The giver of life will
provide who will govern our dear state in 2019, thus, needless trying to
make Obong Nsima Ekere to be too popular via uncalled for report.
Akwa Ibomites are politically matured to an extent that they now know what they want.
The electorates now know who they will vote for come 2019.
I see the forthcoming election that will be devoid of blackmail, political abracadabra and what have you.
We should rather look at the content of various write-up not the writer.
If Iniobong maintains that Udom is deceitful, then it behooves on us to
crosscheck from his then supporters who are outside the government to
verify if truly the governor is deceitful.
Get to those men in
Etim Ekpo, Uyo, Nsit Atai et al and verify from them if the outcome of
the support they lavishly bestowed on the governor is RIGHT or
DECEITFUL.
Get to those in government and verify if the factions
known and addresses as AKPABIO and UDOM boys is an act of cordiality or
deceitful.
Then, go to Uyo - Ikot Ekpene road and do a vox pop...
Listen to Senator Nelson Effiong's interview and verify if deceitfulness wasn't embedded.
Or what do we have to say with the uncountable defection from PDP to APC in a self acclaimed PDP state?
Or could we attribute that as NSIMA 2019: THE MYSTERY OF DEFECTION?
