The internal crisis within the Delta State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), may never end as another chronic political debacle may display its ugly head to finally extinguish the party in the state, before 2019 governorship election.
Sources close to APC power block alleged that some aggrieved Northern political power brokers within and outside the party at the national level; are mounting early pressures on key national leaders never to give the APC guber flag to Chief Great Ogboru, come 2019. However, this position is subject to confirmation.
The plot against Ogboru, it was learnt, is majorly for sponsoring the Okar Coup which attempted to split Nigeria, among ethnic and geographical lines; as contained in the coup ploters announcement. They planned to severe the core Northern States from the rest of the country.
The Northern Ogboru political detractors are of the view that allowing him to run on the ticket of the APC meant compensating him for the evil he planned against the North, for willingly sponsoring a failed military coup, adding that if the coup plotters had achieved their aims, Ogboru would have succeeded in breaking Nigeria, long ago.
The aggrieved Northern politicians, it was alleged, are favourably disposed to the Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr Ibe Kachukwu to fly APC guber ticket with another popular politician from Delta Central as running mate.
The preasure so far mounted on the core APC leadership may have accounted for some of the reasons why the Emerhor caucus of APC Delta conceded the state leadership to Ibe Kachukwu who recently hosted and presided over an enlarged stakeholders meeting at his Onicha Ugbo residence.
A reliable source within APC Delta who spoke to an online blogger recently alleged (though yet to be confirmed), that Chief Ogboru is worried over the development as its becoming clear to him every passing day that he may not fly the APC guber flag in 2019.
Ogboru, it was leant, is already making underground moves to realign his political structure, preparing ahead with available options at his disposal, to spring surprises should APC Delta lock him out of the governorship race in 2019.
It was further alleged that the Northern political power block are working on the possibility of using Ogboru's close associate to drastically fracture his political structure, living Ogboru empty and in disarray politically.
The plan, according to insider sources, shall be to give huge funds to a powerful politician within APC Delta to buy over key leaders within the Ogboru structure so as to render him politically irrelevant.
Key party officers that will emerge in the repeat state congress of Delta APC expected to hold before July this year, will to a large extent indicate the direction of the political permutations within the party.
APC Delta will crash beyond the devil's bottomless pit should Chief Great Ogboru look elsewhere before he is taken unawares by the horrible wind of CHANGE.
