Akwa United Football Club of Uyo will tomorrow Tuesday March 14, play a
friendly football match with Nigeria National League club Akwa Starlets
FC at the Godswill Akpabio international stadium at 4pm.
The match is part of a preseason programme organised for Akwa Starlets to help them prepare well for the upcoming NNL season.
Akwa United have been impressive at home this season in the Nigeria Professional Football League NPFL having won five and drawn two of their last seven league matches and are 6th on the table.
Coach Abdul Maikaba may likely give some players who are yet to taste league action this season the opportunity to feature in the match.
Meanwhile, the match may turn out to be a reunion for some players of Akwa Starlets who were dropped from Akwa United squad at the end of last season.
Starlets have been in close camping in Calabar, Cross River State ahead of the new NNL season and coach Emmanuel Ntuk will use the match to assess the fitness level of his players.
The gates at the Godswill Akpabio international stadium will be thrown open for fans, supporters and football loving people of the state to watch the match free of charge.
