Indications have emerged that, the last may not have been heard about members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Uyo Chapter who recently defected from the party to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

A prominent political leader in Uyo and immediate past Commissioner for Housing and Urban Renewal, Prince Enobong Uwah dropped the hint when he arrived at the Ibom International from a trip outside the country.

Prince Uwah who said he was worried by the defection of those he referred to as committed party men, maintained that, the PDP family in Uyo will not give up on them, but will reach out to the few who have left as the proverbial one lost sheep, which the Shepherd sacrificed every other thing to recover, without abandoning those who have kept faith with the party.

On reasons why the aggrieved party members defected, Prince Uwah explained that, whatever be their grouse, will be looked into, addressed and amicably resolved as a family squabble and expressed hope that, the aggrieved party men who left will be disposed to accepting the olive branch, so that Uyo can continue to thrive and prosper in unity and one fold.

Prince Uwah argued that, he is fired-up to reach out to all those who left because of his firm conviction that, the interest of Uyo Local Government is better protected and advanced under the PDP umbrella which has positively transformed the fortunes of Uyo from a sleepy state capital to a truly metropolitan city and one of the best developed capital cities in the country in the last 17 years of PDP administrations.

He further stated that, Uyo people owe Governor Emmanuel a debt of gratitude for appointing their sons into high political offices and several more as his Personal Assistants and Special Assistants in addition to the many roads the governor has awarded and are currently under construction in Uyo, including Atan Offot Road, Anua-Mbak-Issiet Road, Ring Roads 2 and 3, as well as other major works in St. Lukes hospital Anua, where Governor Emmanuel completed the renovation of the Dr Ann Ward administrative block and renovation of two blocks complete with perimeter fence and internal roads in the hospital as well as major renovation works and internal roads construction in Cornelia Cornelia College, Uyo.

Prince Uwah who also observed that, Governor Udom Emmanuel has reclaimed the hitherto abandoned 10th Anniversary Hotel which was inhabited by criminals, but is now a magnificent sprawling State Secretariat annex with all adjoining streets currently under construction and to be linked to the major roads of Udo Udoma, Oron road and the Ibom Tropicana layout, charged Uyo people to rally around the governor, who is poised to bequeath more dividends of democracy to Uyo people.

Prince Uwah reiterated his commitment to uniting Uyo under the PDP umbrella and approaching the 2019 election with the goal of retaining the PDP government in the state and restoring the party's leadership at the centre. He accordingly called on well-meaning indigenes of Uyo in particular and Akwa Ibom state as a whole to support Governor Emmanuel beyond 2019.

It will be recalled that, three former Uyo local government chairmen, namely, Chief Clement Ekott, Mr. Aniekan Ubia and Mr. Fidelis Eddie, as well as a former State Surveyor-General, Surveyor Okokon Essien defected from the PDP to APC.
