Akwa Ibom: Amb. Etim Okpoyo Thanks Udom For Developing Oro Nation (Photos)

Former deputy governor of Akwa Ibom State, Ambassador Etim Okpoyo, has lauded Governor Udom Emmanuel for providing quality roads and infrastucture to Oro Nation and developing other parts of the State, less than two years of his ainistration.

Ambassador Okpoyo, who gave the commendation at the March edition of Akwa Ibom Youth Prayer conference held at Methodist Church Nigeria, Eyulor, Urueoffong Oruko Local Government Area, reminded the youth that if they must be useful to the society, they should shun actions capable of truncating their future.

The former Ambassador to Italy mentioned excessive alcohol consumption, smoking of Indian hemp, thuggery, disrespect to elders as some of the vices that could hinder the success of any youth.

He assured that elders in the State will always support and pray for them to succeed when they show respect and obey the elders

Speaker after speaker including the political leader of Urueoffong Oruko LGA, Rt Hon (Chief) Esio Oquong Udo and former member representing the area in AKHA, Hon Uno Etim Uno, commended the youth for hosting the event in their area.

The duo who opined that praying for government and the people was one of the duties of every patriotic citizen, declared their support and that of Urueoffong Oruko people to Governor Udom Emmanuel till 2023.

Earlier in his opening remarks, the Special Assistant to Governor on Youth Matters, Mr Aniefiok Iwaudofia, divulged that the prayer conference, has yielded positive results as youth who were engaging in some unspeakable lifestyles in the past have let go of such and embraced God.

Iwaudofia, thanked the governor for taking the youth of Akwa Ibom to God through various prayer meetings as well as solemn assemblies and pledged the total support of the entire youth to Governor Emmanuel beyond 2019.

Responding, Governor Udom Emmanuel thanked Akwa Ibom youths for their commitment in praying for peace and progress of the State.

The governor who was represented by Commissioner for Works, Akparawa Ephraim Inyang, hinted that "any man made by God can become whatever he wants in life if he obeys God's commandment", lauded the SA on Youth Matters, Mr Iwaudofia, and his team, for sustaining the prayer conference since August 2015.

The governor who quoted no fewer than six Bible portions reminded the congregation that, "man has one purpose on earth; to fear God and keep His commandment"
He said: "Our job is to pray and that of our dear God is to answer.

Assuring them that God cannot fail, the governor-turned-preacher, stressed that "no man who puts his trust in God has ever been put to shame.

He charged the youth to always reflect on the fine example of Joseph in the Bible, "who was blackmailed and sent to prison, but God vindicated Joseph at the end and made him a king in Egypt"
"You cannot be a child of God and covered by darkness", he assured.

Meanwhile, Urueoffong Oruko people were assured of enjoying good road network and quality infrastructure by the Udom Emmanuel led administration.

Highpoint of the event was prayer session for the three arms of government in the State, the youth, elders, women and entire good peole of Akwa Ibom.

The service attracted eminent personalities, namely; Akparawa Ephraim Inyang, who represented Governor Udom Emmanuel, former State's deputy governor; Ambassador Etim Okpoyo and Political leader of Urueoffong Oruko LGA; Chief Esio Oquong Udo.

Others were; Chairman, Board of Internal Revenue, Mr. Okon Okon, SA Marketing / Brand Management, Mr. Ime Uwah, his counterpart in Research and Documentation; Emmanuel Nicholas, Hon (Mrs) Kenim Onofiok, Obong Iwaad Emman Mbong, Hon. Uno Etim Uno, Barr. Ita Okpoyo, State's Publicity Secretary of Youth caucus; Comrade Linus Effiong, clergymen, youths and traditional rulers.
