Victor Moses has gone from strength to strength in a wing-back position
back at parent club Chelsea this season. The 26-year-old is on course to
claim a first Premier League winners' medal after several disappointing
loans in recent times appeared to have stalled his career.
Yet it has been suggested by one of his former managers that Moses might
never have made anything of himself but for a stern word of warning
during his early years at Crystal Palace.
Neil Warnock, who gave Moses his
senior debut as a 16-year-old in 2007, recalled threatening Victor with a
future of obscurity at non-league Bromley if he didn't work harder
during an appearance on Sky Sports' Goals on Sunday at the weekend.
The
outspoken 68-year-old, now in charge of Cardiff City, claimed the
youngster never put enough effort in before that conversation.
"People
like Victor Moses, who never tried a leg until I had a chat with him.
And that just hit home with him one night," Warnock said on the
programme.
Moses moved from Palace to Wigan in 2010, impressing enough in Lancashire to earn a move to Stamford Bridge in 2012. He played just 23 times for his new club in the Premier League before loans at Liverpool,
Stoke and West Ham, but has now featured in 24 of Chelsea's 25 league games so far this season, nearly all of them as a starter.
