Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has urged Governor Udom Emmanuel to take necessary steps to 'immortalize and celebrate past and present leaders who contributed to the creation of Akwa Ibom State, as a mark of appreciation of their efforts.

The House has also called on leaders of the state to see Akwa Ibom as greater than their personal interest, and has therefore enjoined them to serve the state selflessly and be patriotic in order to further the unity of the state. This was contained in a resolution passed by the House on Friday during a special legislative session as part of activities to mark the 30th anniversary of the state's creation. The lawmakers in their three points resolution, congratulated Governor Udom Emmanuel and the people of the state on the auspicious occasion of the 30th anniversary celebration of statehood.

The resolution came after each member of the House had exhaustively deliberated on the achievements so far recorded by the state in the past thirty years, and charted the way forward for a greater Akwa Ibom. They paid glowing tribute to the forerunners who lead in the stuggle for state creation.

Motion for the adoption of the resolution was moved by the Deputy Leader, Rt. Hon. Ime Okon, while the Deputy Chief, Hon. David Lawrence seconded.

In his good will message, Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Barr. Onofiok Luke, described the founding fathers of the state as great patriots , saying the legislature is privileged to succeed by the sheer sustenance of the 25 year old legacy of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly.
