The attention of the Senior Special Assistant to the Akwa Ibom State Governor on Technical Matters and Due Process and Coordinator, AKEES, Elder Ufot Ebong, has been drawn to a malicious and misleading statement on Facebook, by "AkwaIbom Daily", alleging that the just commissioned AKEES Pencil and Toothpick factory is not owned by Akwa Ibom State Government.

Putatively, such comment is amusing and very infantile, especially coming from an Akwa Ibom son who apart from his failure to present facts for his claims, uses a counterfeit Facebook account to spread tissue of lies, rather than commending efforts by the State Governor, Deacon Udom Emmanuel on his industrialisation agenda which has created massive employment.

Ordinarily, we would not have dignified such fallacious, ungodly and baseless publication with a response, but for the sole reason of setting the record straight, protecting the Akwa Ibom State Government's integrity and disabusing the minds of the undiscerning public who might mistake the fiction for fact.

For the records, the Toothpick and Pencil factory is a project of Akwa Ibom State Government executed under Akwa Ibom Enterprise and Employment Scheme (AKEES) which is owned by the State Government and is aimed at creating jobs and employment for our teaming youths.

It is disheartening therefore, that a supposed rational being who should have joined thousands of well wishers in and outside to applaud the Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel for keeping to his industrialisation promise is now being used to spread propaganda that does not hold water.

Let it be known that AKEES is responsible for the creation of the Akwa Ibom State toothpick and pencils factory which has employed a whooping 110 Staff excluding those unaccounted either the value chain and has a network of supplies to the entire 36 States of the federation. It does not end there.

In order to totally disprove the malicious claims sponsored by some politically aggrieved elements in the State, may I humbly refer all well-meaning Akwa Ibomites to Kilometer One, Etinan Road to see the gigantic Toothpick and Pencil Industry that stands there.

The general public is hereby informed that such flimsy claims are born out of hatred and selfish desire by unrepentant political fanatics who will never see anything good in an administration that doesn't steal money to fill their pockets.

Governor Udom Emmanuel remains resolute in transforming this State and will not bend in his resolve, despite falsehood.
