Read A Motion Moved By Itu State Lawmaker, Hon. Prince Ituen in respect to the renewed attacks and continuous killing of his constituents in which several persons were gruesomely killed.

"Whereas the lingering boundary crisis between Itu (Oku-Iboku, Ayadehe, Mbiabo) and Odukpani (Ikot Offiong) communities of Akwa Ibom State and Cross River State respectively have claimed hundreds of lives in recent times.

Whereas farmlands and properties worth Billions of Naira belonging to the people of Itu have been destroyed and carted away.

Whereas more than 90% of the population residing at the disputed areas are farmers and fishermen, the continued attack on their farms have deprived them of their only source of income and livelihood - thereby exposing our people to hardship and hunger.

And Whereas this crisis have abated despite effort by various Governmental Agencies to provide Security presence at the disputed area.

Arising from the above and considering the importance of revirine boundary communities to the well being and security of our dear state - Akwa Ibom.

I move that this Honourable House do pass a resolution mandating His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, to;

1. Increase and sustain security presence and patrols on land and in the adjoining Rivers.

2. Declare Itu-Oma an Emergency Area and subsequently direct the State Emergency Management Committee to provide relief materials.

Also pass a resolution appealing to

3. The National Boundary Commission to intensify Dialogue between the two States "Akwa Ibom and Cross River State" with the view to resolving the crisis and returning peace to the Communities involved".
I so move.
