Gov Udom Emmanuel And His Government Of Phoney Projects

When some media promoters of the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Deacon Udom Emmanuel, were bragging how the governor's critics would be humbled and put to shame by the time the achievements of the government would have been unveiled as part of the programme for the second anniversary of the administration some of us had thought that the government had something serious to present to the people of the state.

To say the least, going by what the government through the Commissioner for Information, Mr.Patrick Udoh, presented to the public, the Udom Emmanuel administration has shown that it has no scorecard to present to the people of the state for the two years he has been in power and it's forced to present all manners of funny things as projects handled by the administration and ready for commissioning or inspection or flag-off, as the case maybe.

Let me start with the ones located in my community, Aka Offot, Uyo local government. The so-called Ntiedo Street project billed for commissioning by the governor is very funny and has exposed the fraudulent tendencies of the key functioneries of the government.

The fact on ground at the project site shows that not up to 15% work is done on the project but it's being celebrated as one of the major achievements of the administration. The government also attempted to play a fast one on the people of the state on what they call Atan road.

The name of that road from time immemorial is Aka-Atan road as it spans through the two villages, Aka Offot and Atan Offot.

This project was abandoned by the contractors over fourteen months ago and it's now listed for inspection or commissioning by the governor. To inspect or commission an abandoned project??? This is indeed ridiculous and unheard of.

This would be the first time that inspection of projects by government is so much celebrated.
The so-called Coconut Refinery billed for commissioning by the governor is a farce, a ruse.

The fact on ground at the site of the project shows that not up to 20% of the projected work is done on the project. This is enough to show that the brains behind the project didn't do due diligence and it's likely to be abandoned.

A look at the list of projects as prevented by the Commissioner for Information shows that 60% of the projects are for ground-breaking or flag-off as ingeniously rechristened by the handlers of the administration to confuse or hoodwink the public.35% are for inspection and most of the projects billed for inspection had been long abandoned by the contractors for lack of funding by the government. What that means is that the governor would be inspecting abandoned projects.

Very funny!.5% of the projects are for commissioning but some of the projects billed for commissioning, like Ntiedo Street mentioned earlier are not ready for commissioning and will likely be abandoned.

That Senator Godswill Akpabio, Governor Udom Emmanuel's great teacher, the man that brought him to power, could be going to Rivers State to commission multi billion naira projects is a shame to our governor.

Senator Akpabio is ashamed and disappointed that his puppet has not been able to initiate and complete any project for him to commission after two years in power.

The people of the state can't wait for 2019 to vote him out and vote in a governor with capacity to take the state to the next level
