Getting appointments is not show of strength. Being begged by the
center with a blank check to take series of appointments as a damage
control measure, speaks of not only strength, but connection and
respect.
In 2015,if Obong Umana had lost the nomination, I don't think APC would have begged him with the offers Akpanudoedehe rejected. I would want to mention Obong Nsima Ekere because he was not even there.
With due respect to the two party men mentioned above, they don't have the kind of access, sympathy, trust and confidence Akpanudoedehe gets from the leadership of APC and the Presidency now.
At the risk of sounding immodest, in the manner that Senator Godswill Akpabio does not need introduction anywhere in the PDP and on matters of Akwa Ibom State, Akpanudoedehe does not need introduction in the APC arrangements anywhere in Nigeria and with regards to Akwa Ibom State in particular.
Sadly, many of those we are pushing it's bid to overtake and bring down Akpanudoedehe in the APC, are not known beyond Rt Hon Rotimi Amaechi parlour.
Take away the ex governor who is now suffocating under Wike, most people will quit APC because they don't have the foundation to survive.
APC outside Akwa Ibom State, values Akpanudoedehe. It is only in Akwa Ibom State that infiltrators can use a very weak and corrupt state exco to attempt to humiliate the man with an expulsion.
In the state, the expulsion letter moved in such high speed that within one week, it got ratified by the state and landed at the regional office of the party but wouldn't go further because of series of brainstorming and consultation on how to settle and safe the party from total collapse which expelling Dr Edehe could cause.
The purported expulsion has been at that level for about five months now and obviously stagnated. But in Akwa Ibom, it took both the so called ward, chapter and state exco just seven days to purportedly expelled him because, we are an atomistic society perpetually at war with ourselves.
I have assessed the "first eleven" the Umana led APC is lining up. The first is very repulsive to Mr President when he considers how he traded ANPP and dump him as a presidential candidate of the party at the Court to go and dine with the PDP.
The other ones are at best seen by Mr President conspirators with the PDP who needs time to be reformed in the party.
Mr President is always asking if they ever would have had anything to do with APC if they had gotten tickets of the PDP.
They cannot give us any good representation at the centre. That is why l agreed with the author above and suggested we go back to the root in the APC.
