The opposition All Progressive Congress APC in Akwa Ibom state is threatened by the level of achievements made by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP-led administration in the state in just two years since it came on board. This writer can report authoritatively.
Rumours going round the state had it that, inspite of the volume, magnitude and enormous impacts made in all sectors by Governor Udom Emmanuel's administration, the apparent are the physical infrastructure, particularly in the area of world-class road infrastructure delivery, even at this time of economic crisis.
According to the rumours, the success of Governor Udom Emmanuel's administration is however, attributed to the unwavering commitment of the Honourable Commissioner for Works, Mr. Ephraim Inyang-eyen, in linking and connecting rural areas to urban centers with well paved roads, as well as, de-flooding the state with a view to make Akwa Ibom a destination of choice for investors and tourists.
The socio-economic activities among Akwa Ibom communities within the state, occasioned by the provision of commerce and industrialization enablers by the state Ministry of Works has rekindled hope of survival among Akwa Ibom people, even in this hard time hence, there are debates on streets of Uyo metropolis, and other places within the state, some, in homes on why Governor Udom Emmanuel should be given a 2nd term.
A good number of Akwa Ibom people who spoke with this writer testified to what they have seen on ground, make possible by the present administration, in terms of developmental strides.
They have lauded the leadership of Governor Udom Emmanuel, saying that but, if he (the Governor) was not Akwa Ibom Divine Mandate, sent by God, Akwa Ibom would have made the list among states known for their backwardness in terms of development, occasioned by economic recession.
They described Governor Udom Emmanuel as an erudite manager of resources, saying that he has brought his reservoir of knowledge and experience towards piloting the affairs of the state with a view to give Akwa Ibom a place in the comity of developed states of the world.
Meanwhile, evidence of the present administration's achievements are abound. Just today, May 22, 2017, Governor Udom Emmanuel, commended Akwa Ibom state Works Commissioner, Akparawa Ephraim Inyang-eyen's dexterity and passion towards the success of his administration, while commissioning a whole lot of projects executed by the Ministry of Works as part of activities to mark his 2nd year anniversary as the Governor of Akwa Ibom State.
However, the projects include but not limited to the 1.5km Nsikak Edouk - Tropicana Outfall Drain, which vacates waters from Nsikak Eduok, Udoudoma, back of Tropicana, Ring Road lll, Jonathan Boulevard and the adjourning streets and discharge same into the Obot Idim River, and today, the once described "Nsikak Edouk Avenue River" is now the thing of the past.
Apart from inspecting 20.0km Ikot Oku Ikono - Etinan Road, which according to the Governor, the ongoing project will meet the standard at which it was designed based on the quality of work done by the construction firm, the Julius Berger, the Governor also flagged-off 3.2km Dual Access Road in University of Uyo permanent site, including the internal roads in the institution, Road Network at College of Education, Afaha Nsit and the 9.76km Ancillary Roads in Nsit Union among others.
Many who spoke at different project sites visited by the Governor, lauded the leadership of Governor Udom Emmanuel.
While praising the Honourable Commissioner for Works for his commitment towards ensuing that most of the projects initiated and executed by this administration are delivered at the stipulated time, pledged Akwa Ibom people's support to the present administration and promised to deliver Governor Udom Emmanuel come 2019.
