The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Committee on Works and Transport has handled the waring issues regarding alleged irregularities in the transport sector, arising from various petitions raised against the Commissioner for Transportation and Petroleum Resources, Mr. Orman Esin with utmost leniency.

The meeting had barely started at the Committee Room of the House of Assembly Complex last Friday, when the Chairman, House Committee on Works and Transport, Hon. Idongesit Ituen announced the shift, saying the meeting could not continue because the Commissioner whose presence remained very important was not in attendance.

Idongesit Ituen explained that he was aware that the commissioner was with the Governor for an official outing and that such an engagement would not permit him to be part of the meeting.

He directed the Committee's clerk to compile all documents related thereto and communicate to the
Transport Commissioner so as to remind him of the decisions reached during their earlier meetings and the need to keep calm with all parties involved until the final resolution is reached.

He thanked his colleagues who are members of the committee, including the deputy Speaker, Princess Felicia Bassey, transport stakeholders, Unionists and the officials from the Ministry of Transportation and Petroleum Resources for their consistent efforts in making appearances at the forum.

The meeting was adjourned indefinitely as the new date of sitting was not announced.
