It was a great moment of joy for the people of Ibaka in Mbo Local
Government Area as the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel
announced that the Ibaka major Road will soon be awarded a contract for
re-construction
The Governor made the announcement during the commissioning of the 3.2 km road leading to the Delmar petroleum Harbour and Tank Farm.
He however expressed worried at the present state of the Road , saying his government will do all that it could to put the road in it right shape.
He expressed optimism that Ibaka will soon become a center of businesses and hinted that investors have already been contacted and will soon commence oil and gas industry that would bring tremendous job opportunities for the teeming youth as well as development to the area.
Speaking earlier, The Mbo state House of Assembly member, Hon. Samuel Ufuo and Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Victor Antai while thanking the governor for the projects he has executed so far in the area drawn his attention to the deplorable state of the road and called for urgent intervention.
Also, Hon. Chris Abasieyo decried the high rate of piracy at the Ibaka Sea port saying it has posed a lot of threats to the economic activities of the Riverine operators and appealed to the governor to assign more securities agents to help curb the menace in the area.
In another development, governor Udom also inspected the and tested the syringe as well as flagging- off the Flour mills industries in Onna Local Government Area.
He noted that both factories which has the capacity of production was not funded by the state government and explained that the factories are entirely a public private partnership arrangement.
Other activities of Deacon Udom to mark the 2017 Democracy Day and 2nd Anniversary in office include; inspection of 10.5 km dualized Okopedi- Iron road, inspection of Gully Erosion Control Facilities at Iron/ Isangedighi Road, flag-off 55.1km super high way with 3No spurs, Eket, Commissioning of 19.5 km Eket- Ibeno road,flag -off 9.0 km Ibekwe - Ikot Unya Mkpenye - Ikot Akata Rd ,flag-off of Coconut refinery among others
