One of the
greatest gifts and endowment in a man's life is the ability to see
beyond his nose or simply put, the ability to see in the spirit realm. I
have a testimony to tell here because nature has not denied me of
these precious gift.
When Governor Udom Emmanuel suddenly
surfaced in the scene of Akwa Ibom State Politics through the dynasty of
his precursor, it didn't cost me prayers nor prophesy as a person as I
could perceived intuitively what the fruit of his leadership would
bring to other parts of the State whom he already inherited an impending
hatred, negligence, and untold Hardship.
As a student leader
representing the famous( AKPAKIP ORO STUDENTS' UNION) during my time as
undergraduate in the University, my first encounter with Governor Udom
was in his office as the then Secretary to the State Government ( SSG)
under 'his lordship' Godswill Obot Akpabio.
The courtesy visit was
organised by the fortunate serving special assistant to the Governor on
students affairs, Miss Otobong Akpan whom to my best knowledge is still
pursuing her undergraduate studies in University of Uyo.
Others
I could still recall in the gathering included Comrade Ubon Marcus, the
then NANS vice president, special duties currently a member, Etinan
Local Government Transition committee, HRM Nsobom Namso Etukudo who
represented the entire Ibibio Students Union, HRM Akuku Ime Okon, the
then representative of Annang Students Union and other teeming Akwa Ibom
State students who were at the helm of the affairs of their respective
Students' sub- groups.
It was indeed one of the fora where young
minds were given opportunity to express their ills and feelings freely
without fear nor favour.
Governor Udom in his speech during the
meeting charged the students leaders to study hard. He also said " if
I'm voted into office, my administration will always go for the best
brains in appointments and recommendations, I will not create room for
cultism and mediocrity, the jobs and responsibilities meant for those
with good qualifications will never be substituted for the unqualified
ones, I will be too busy to entertain ethnic sentiment and
discrimination, all I want is your support and cooperation.
Finally, all
those who are graduating soon with good grades among you would be
called upon for empowerment, scholarship award for post graduate
studies home and abroad, and employment opportunities as strategy to
curb violence and youth restiveness in the state".
I'm not a
local champion to have been ignorant of the fact that his precursors
had already spitted pranks into Udom's mouth ever since they form
alliance of conspiracy and non inclusive leadership pattern. This
brought me to the understanding today that " a guilty conscience needs
no accuser" .
Upon my observations, Governor Udom has been
guilty right from when his campaigns was going on. He is dwelling in
the inverse of all his policy statements during the pre and post,
election activities, including the imbalances in his sharing formula as
'stereotype' and 'bias' becomes the modus operandi as well as the model
of his administration. I may sound offensive here but I'm simply
utilizing my constitutional rights.
Let me use this medium to
grave the indulgence of HE Udom Emmanuel to know that " what is morally
wrong cannot be politically right".
Our common wealth was graciously
deposited in some sections of our one and only Akwabasi Ibom State by
God Almighty to meet the collective needs of all and also serve
other purposes which affects our livelihood .
As such, those who
primarily owns the bank of these resources should not be treated with
levity nor disregards. Hence, it's not ideal when someone try to
soiled the long existing relationship instituted by our forebears.
It is high time he ( the Governor) re consider our state in
retrospect and work fast to heal the pains, assault, humiliations, and
embarrassment the minority groups are going through interms of political
appointments, live touching projects, and infrastructural developments
to mention a few. What is good for the goose is also good for the
ganders.
A word is enough for the wise. When a hand shake crosses the elbow, fight intended.
Our life begin to end the day we become silent over the things that matter... Martin Luther King Jr.
The ' rich' and the ' poor ' lives together, God created them all.
When we embrace the ideology of 'live and let's live', Akwa Ibom will grow out of obscurity to great illuminations.
GOD BLESS AKWA IBOM STATE.
